2018 New Year's Resolutions

Sunday, December 31, 2017

Happy New Years, guys! Sean and I decided to have a lazy day yesterday where we stayed in our pjs, ate Cuban food and caught up on some episodes of Nashville while we waited to watch the ball drop from the comfort of our couch (the best idea ever). We wrote down some New Year's Resolutions last night that I wanted to share with you all and hopefully this will help to not only motivate myself but some of you as well, now lets get into it!

1. Making A Healthy Lifestyle Change - I really want to focus on making my health a priority this year! I'm not talking about just the typical "lose weight" goal but I want to focus on drinking more water, going on more walks/runs, eating less junk food and eating out in general, and more cooking meals at home with my husband. He got me the "Weekday Weekend" cookbook from A Beautiful Mess for Christmas so we will be using lots of yummy recipes from that!

                                                                                                                                                                                              Source: A Beautiful Mess

2. Striving To Be Positive - I felt like there were many moments this year and situations that made me feel negative, icky, and really just took over my happiness. This year I want to focus on not sweating the small stuff and making a conscious effort to look on the bright-side. I am so blessed and happy with my life, I want to make sure I am showing gratitude and being positive.

3. Allowing Time To Be Creative - When you work full-time it can make you feel extremely exhausted and it's hard to find time to do the things you love, but I want to make sure I am allowing myself time to be creative! I love to craft, film and blog, so I am going to make sure I am scheduling myself time to do so. I purchased this super cute planner from Anthropologie (my place of work) to help me stay on track!

                                                                                                                                                        Source: Anthropologie

4. Be Consistent- This ties in with goal #3 but I really just want to focus this year on posting more frequently on my channel and this blog! It's something that I feel so passionately about and love doing! Consistency is key.

5. Budget - Sean and I have lots and lots of things coming up this year, from the wedding to the honeymoon, moving in the fall, etc. So we want to make budgeting a focus this year by trying to be smarter with our money and saving!

2017 was filled with so much change. I started a brand new big girl job as a manager at Anthropologie, I married the love of my life, we went through loss, and had so many ups and downs together. This year we will be having the wedding of our dreams, honeymooning in Mexico, moving into our first place together in the fall and I can't wait to see what 2018 has in store for us. I am blessed beyond measure and the happiest girl in the world.

I hope my list of New Year's resolutions have inspired some of you guys, and thank you so much for reading! What are some of resolutions you have down on your list? I would love to know in the comments below!

-Sincerely, Ken.

Follow My Wedding Journey-Bridesmaids & Groomsmen

Friday, August 18, 2017

Hi guys! I finally have a day off from work, so Sean and I decided to grab a coffee at a cute little coffee shop called the Front Porch here in Pooler. We have never been here before so we were excited to try something new! I got myself an iced latte called the "Flower Girl" -- it has lavender and vanilla in it and it's probably my new favorite thing ever. Anyway, today on the blog I thought it would be fun to share with you guys what we were thinking for our bridesmaids and groomsmen!

We knew we didn't want to go too crazy with our bridal party so we decided it would be best to stick with just having five people each. Sean and I were never really into traditional black and white weddings, so after some research we ended up falling in love with the navy + blush pink color palette for our wedding. Most of my bridesmaids are my sisters and they each have their own sense of style and unique personalities, so I didn't want to stick them all in the same dress. Plus, I just want them to feel comfortable and have fun! I found lots of my inspiration from wedding accounts on Instagram and of course...Pinterest. Here are a couple of my favorite looks:

                                                                                                                                           Source: Katelyn James Blog

                                                            Source: Deer Pearl Flowers

Now, on to the groomsmen. Sean really loved the idea of navy suits for himself and the guys, plus the colors with the girls dresses really complimented each other! We are most likely going to end up having the guys wear a blush tie and Sean will wear a blush bow tie. I also think we're going to let the guys pick out their own navy suits. We don't want everything to be too "matchy matchy," and we're just pretty laid back about these kinds of things. Plus, we do not want everyone to feel forced to spend money or get something they just don't love. I think this way it gives them all a little more freedom with what they want to wear. Here are a few examples of what we were thinking for the guys:

                                                                                                                                                             Source: Pinterest

                                                                                                                                     Source: The Wedding Playbook

We are so excited and I feel like time is just flying by! We only have 212 days until our wedding and we have so many mixed emotions going into it. My next blog post will be focused on our wedding decor and a few DIY blogpost to go along with it. Yay! Let me know what you think and hopefully this has helped with some of your wedding inspiration! Until next week...

Sincerely, Ken.

My Everyday Makeup Routine

Monday, July 31, 2017

Hi guys! Tonight on the blog I thought it would be fun to share with you all my everyday makeup routine. All of these products are super affordable and you can find them at practically ANY drugstore (CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, etc.) It's super easy breezy, and usually only takes me about 15 minutes to put on in the mornings before I head to work. Plus it will last ya all day long! Lets get into it!!!

Step 1
- I start off by using my damp beauty sponge to apply my foundation. It gives me a nice medium coverage but is also very buildable. It has a nice glowy finish and is perfect for an everyday wear.

Step 2 - Next, I take Rimmel London's matte pressed powder and apply that to my t-zone so that my skin doesn't get oily or start to look shiny throughout the the day!

Step 3 - I draw a thin line of elfs black eyeliner on my eyes! Only costs $2 and is so easy to apply and to take off at the end of the night.

Step 4- Then, I like to curl my lashes and use one of my favorite mascaras -- Covergirl's lash blast mascara. It makes my lashes look full and long, soooooooo pretty.

Step 5 - I love to use my NYC sunny bronzer for a simple contour. I just take an angled contour brush and run it below my cheek bones, around my forehead, and just a little bit down the sides of my nose. It give me that perfect sun-kissed look.

Step 6 - I have an actual obsession with this baked highlight and rose gold elf kit -- it has been my new go to! Rose gold is my jam and I am so in love with this color. TIP! Scrap the top layer of the highlight away, that way the pigment is much stronger.

Step 7 - One of my favorite lip balms is this one by Revlon in the color fresh strawberry! It's a nice everyday lip and has all natural fruit oils. It's a fav of mine!

Step 8 - Lastly, I like to set my face with rose water! It locks my makeup in place, and is nice to spray throughout the day to refresh your skin.

Follow My Wedding Journey - Save The Dates + Invites

Monday, June 19, 2017

Hi guys! Tonight on the blog I wanted to share with you where Sean and I are planning on getting our save the dates/invitations from. I browsed through a few different sites, but Minted seemed to stick out to me the most! They have so many beautiful designs from independent artists all over the country and to top it off they're super affordable!! Sean and I decided to get some samples of save the dates/invitations that we were loving. We got 10 samples totally free (they had a super awesome promotion going on when we placed the order). It was so nice to see them in person and really get a feel of exactly what they were going to look like. They are totally customizable - you can pick out what color and font you want for all of your wedding stationary needs!

Pictured below are the samples of save the dates and invitations we ordered, plus we made our final decision on wedding stationary. Yay! If you want to check out the site, I will leave a link for you guys right here.

Our Engagement Photos

Friday, April 14, 2017

Hi everyone! Tonight on the blog, I thought it would be nice to share our engagement photos with you all! I could honestly cry just looking through them, they are absolutely perfect and nothing short of magical. We got our pictures done at Lullwater Park in Atlanta by the oh-so-talented Paula Harding; she is seriously the best you guys. We couldn't be happier with the way they turned out.

We are 335 days away from the wedding. I wish we could get married tomorrow! I am so in love with this man. I can't wait to spend our forever drinking way too many lattes, eating tacos and listening to Band of Horses with you until we are old and gray. I love you..

Brit + Co Wall Hanging Kit-Review

Monday, April 10, 2017

I went to Target the other night to get a few things (plus some things that I really didn't need because...that's what you do when you go to Target), and I was really hoping to stumble upon something to craft! It's been too long since I have sat down and crafted anything, it's one of my favorite things to do!

So, when I stumbled upon the Brit + Co line I was so excited! They have a few different selections of kits to choose from and they are all super cute and fun. I chose the wall hanging kit because I've always wanted to make one of these babies.

This is what the kit looks like...and for only $20? YES, PLEASE. The kit comes with everything you'll need to make the wall hanging (pictured below). It includes:
- Embroidery hoop
- Embroidery thread
- Canvas Banner
- 6 Needles
- Curved scissors
- Needle threader
- Practice material
- Fabric marker
- Book of stitches + instructions

They have step by step instructions and they even have a tiny book of stitches! One thing I will stress is that if you've never done a stitch before, practice on the practice material. It took a second to get the hang of it and if I would've went straight on to the banner, it would've been a disaster (seriously). These DIY kits are so much fun and I would definitely purchase another. Here is my finished product!

Do you have something you would like me to review? Comment below and let me know! Don't forget to check out Brit + Co and their DIY kits here. Thanks for reading!!

-Sincerely, Ken.

March Beauty Favorites

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Tonight, I thought it would be fun to share with you just a few of my favorite products for the month of March! These are all super affordable and I use them pretty much daily. So here we go...

1. Blending Sponge- This blending sponge is a great dupe for beauty blenders! They seriously make my foundation look so airbrushed and flawless, I don't think I'll ever go back to a regular foundation brush again.

2. Tocca Colette- This is one of my favorite perfumes; it's a very subtle and feminine scent. I normally get myself the travel size bottle for $18, which lasts a very long time!

3. Dry Shampoo- Dove dry shampoo is my life! I usually wash my hair every 2-3 days so when my hair needs to be freshened up, this stuff is a life saver. It smells amazing and blends nicely in my hair.

4. Infallible Pro Glow Foundation- I have been wearing this foundation ever since it came out! I watched a million Youtube reviews on it and it did not disappoint! It is definitely more of a medium/full-coverage foundation and gives the most natural glow (I am in the shade Classic Ivory #palelife).

5. Burt's Bees Facial Wipes- After a long day of work, sometimes I just want to take my makeup off quick and easy! These makeup wipes make that happen! They have different types, but of course I need that sensitive skin kind. They come with plenty and last quite sometime!

I hope this inspires you to try out some new things. What are your favorite products for the month of March? Please leave them in the comments below! I always love to hear about new amazing products. Thanks so much for reading!

My All Natural Skin Care Routine

Thursday, March 16, 2017

Hi guys! Tonight on the blog, I thought it would be nice to share my skin care routine with you. This is a work in progress, but I have seen such a difference in my skin that I figured if there was anyone else out there who has sensitive skin like me (and doesn't want to spend a ton of money on products), this might help ya out!

There is a cute little shop that I frequent in Downtown Savannah called Nourish - they sell a bunch of homemade soaps, bath bombs, skin care, etc. One of my favorite products that I use daily is their lavender and aloe facial bar! It is so nourishing and makes your skin feel so refreshed and clean. I use this facial bar every morning and every night! The lavender oil and aloe vera in the soap is so beneficial for treating acne. The oil in the soap has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that can help to fight bacteria that cause acne and inflammation. They also sell exfoliating discs, which remove dead and dry skin! I usually exfoliate 2-3 times a week.

After I do that, I spray my face with rose water. Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties that help with redness or irritated skin. It helps in removing oils from the skin that can clog your pores, which can help to get rid of acne. Oh and a bonus...it works as a setting spray for your makeup! Yay!

The last part of my skin care routine is... Coconut Oil! This stuff is everything + I use it everyday! I like to use the oil as a moisturizer every morning and night. I even moisturize my arms, legs, places where stretch marks reside, and SO MUCH MORE. This stuff is incredible. I also oil cleanse my face. What is oil cleansing, you ask?? Let me tell you about all this magic!

I remove my makeup every night with Coconut Oil. All I do is take a quarter-sized amount of oil in my hands and gently apply all over my face and around my eyes, then take a warm wash cloth and wipe all that dirty makeup away! That is literally it! It leaves my skin feeling so soft and cleansed.

Thanks so much for reading and I hope this has helped out anyone who is looking for some new sensitive skin friendly products :)

Follow My Wedding Journey - Budgeting Tips + Tricks

Thursday, March 9, 2017

Happy spring everybody! I've been learning a lot since getting engaged and planning a wedding with Sean! First of all, weddings are so much more expensive than I could have ever imagined, so today on the blog I wanted to share some of my tips and tricks to cut cost. Sean and I are trying to get the bargain where we can, so here are some of the things that will truly help us cut those costs!

1. Okay, so first things first - if you are not too set about the idea of having a Saturday wedding, get yourself a Sunday wedding! They are SO much cheaper and honestly, either way, your guests will be there. It was 50% cheaper just by choosing a Sunday wedding.

2. The bars can become a pretty expensive part of the big day so instead of doing a full bar, we will be sticking to beer and wine only (sodas, waters, etc.). I don't drink and our families aren't drinkers either, so this wasn't too big of a decision to make. This will save us $5 a person! Woot, woot.

                                                                                                                                               Source: Hey Wedding Lady

3. Use yo' talents! I would like to think that I am quite the savvy crafter, so I decided that I am going to make my own centerpieces. My sisters will be helping me make all the signs throughout the wedding. We are using inspiration from Pinterest/Instagram/Youtube/Blogs and a ton of other outlets. This will save you so much! If you are interested in a few DIY's please comment below and let me know!

4. Flowers! Aggghhhh. I did my research and watched a ton of Youtube videos on how to make my own bouquet and I feel pretty confident in my abilities! We are going to order flowers in bulk from our local grocery store and have a bouquet making party with all the girls in my bridal party! I will for sure be updating you on this process!

                                                                                                      Source: Brides

I hope this has given you some inspiration, and thanks so much for reading! If you have any advice on how you cut costs on your wedding day, please share in the comments below. I would love to hear them!

-Sincerely, Ken
